Patron Code of Conduct

The Freight is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all, including patrons, staff, artists, volunteers, and students. The following Patron Code of Conduct has been created to safeguard everyone who enters our building from hate, discrimination, intimidation, racism, aggression, harassment, and violence. We reserve the right to refuse service to, relocate, or remove anyone who disregards this code. By entering The Freight, all patrons agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.

Be Open

In this space, we come together to experience music that flows from a rich diversity of traditions and communities. As such, please be accepting of perspectives that differ from your own, be willing to allow multiple truths to exist and, perhaps most importantly, be open to change. Know that everyone belongs here.

Be Respectful

If you choose to share feedback about our programming, policies, artists, or staff, please refrain from using language that may be viewed as offensive, hurtful, or aggressive in tone. While we greatly value and encourage community feedback, we ask that you engage with our team in a respectful manner.

Be Communicative

Should you feel harmed in any way or observe harm of someone else in our venue, please inform an on-duty Freight staff member. We will immediately work together to rectify a situation when harm is caused, intentionally or accidentally.

Be Kind

Show kindness to yourself and those around you. The Freight is a place where expression, inspiration, and joy are celebrated. Leave negativity at the door.

Purchase of tickets from Unauthorized Sources

The Freight strongly advises against purchasing tickets from any source other than The Freight box office or website. Tickets purchased from unauthorized sources may be stolen, counterfeit, or otherwise compromised, and may not be honored for entry. The Freight assumes no liability for tickets purchased through unauthorized channels, including TicketSales.com, StubHub, Vivid Seats, Seat Geek, Craigslist, eBay, and any other secondary market or ticket broker services.

We will always do our best to fulfill your requests, but will offer a full refund if we cannot.

Ticket Fees

As of January 1, 2026, there is a $9 per-ticket fee on all tickets priced more than $15, regardless of purchase method. $4 of this amount is a Facility Fee that assists us in maintaining our building. $5 of this amount is a Service Fee that partially underwrites the cost of our ticketing platform, credit card processing, box office staffing, and ticket delivery.

Please note that ticket fees go directly to The Freight. These fees are essential to our ability to provide the best possible in-venue experiences, deliver outstanding customer service, and keep our ticket prices as low as possible.

Ticket Discounts

The Freight offers the below discounts for most performances. Discounts are not applicable to rentals, co-productions, or co-presentations. Please check the individual show page or contact the Box Office before purchasing tickets if you are unclear on whether discounts are offered. Discounts cannot be combined, applied retroactively, or used for Premium General Admission tickets. All discounts are subject to availability and The Freight reserves the right to rescind them at any time.

  • Friends of the Freight (Patron level donors and above): $4 off per ticket
  • Students (with a valid student ID): up to 50% off per ticket
  • Kids 2 and under: free
  • Groups (8 or more): $5 off per ticket (details below)

Please note that as of January 1, 2026, we no longer offer the $2 Senior Discount. We have instead increased the Friend of the Freight donor discount from $2 to $4 (Patron level+ donors). You can receive this and other donor benefits for as little as $100. More importantly, you’ll be helping sustain the work we do and making a statement that live music matters.

Group tickets must be purchased at least 24 hours in advance of the performance and are only available over the phone. Group discounts are not applicable to rentals, co-productions, or co-presentations. Contact the Box Office before purchasing tickets if you are unclear on the event type. Group discounts cannot be combined, applied retroactively, or used for Premium General Admission tickets. Group discounts are subject to availability and The Freight reserves the right to rescind them at any time.

Refunds

No refunds are permitted unless a performance is rescheduled or canceled. We will notify you of a change to your event by emailing the address associated with the ticketholder’s account.

  • If a show is rescheduled, you have the option of keeping your ticket for the new performance date, converting your ticket to a tax-deductible donation to The Freight, or requesting a refund.
  • If a show is canceled, you have the option of converting your ticket to a tax-deductible donation to The Freight or requesting a refund.

You must reply to the notification email to let the Box Office know what you would like to do with your ticket. If we have not heard from you after 30 days, we will automatically refund your account. Refunds are typically processed within 7-14 days.

Ticket Exchanges

Starting January 1, 2026, ticket exchanges for most performances at The Freight are now permitted for a fee, plus any difference in price. Exchanges are not available for rentals, co-presentations, or co-productions. Please consult the Box Office before purchasing tickets if you are unsure of exchange availability. Tickets must be exchanged for another performance within the same calendar year. Please note that we will no longer be able to hold money on your account and that exchange fees are non-refundable.

  • There is a $5 per-ticket fee for ticket exchanges in advance, plus any difference in price between performances.
  • There is a $10 per-ticket fee for day-of-show ticket exchanges, plus any difference in price between performances.
  • Ticket exchanges can be requested until doors open.

Freight Gift Certificates/Legacy Gift Cards

Freight Gift Certificates

Freight gift certificates are available for purchase in any amount and never expire. They may be used for tickets to most Freight performances (rentals, co-productions, and co-presentations excluded) and registration for Freight instructional offerings (classes, workshops, and jams). They cannot be used for Freight merchandise or concessions items. Gift certificates are redeemable online, over the phone, or in-person. They are digital-only (no physical card) but we can provide a printable gift card, if requested. Freight gift certificates may be purchased online here.

Legacy Gift Cards

If you have a hard plastic gift card you previously purchased from us, it is still redeemable in-person. For information, visit our Legacy Gift Cards webpage.

Ticket Purchase Limits

In order to discourage unfair ticket buying practices, you may be limited to a specific number of tickets for each performance (also known as a “ticket limit”). If there is a ticket limit, it will be mentioned on the event page and verified with every transaction. Please adhere to published ticket limits. Orders or additional orders that exceed the total ticket limit for the event will be canceled.

Photo/Video/Recording

No unauthorized photography or video/audio recording allowed during performances unless expressly noted by the artist and the venue. We ask that you put your electronic devices away and enjoy the music in real time.

Pricing Errors

If the price you pay for a ticket is incorrect—whether due to an error on the website or in other communications, because a ticket is purchased before its scheduled on-sale or pre-sale date, or because a ticket is sold in error—The Freight reserves the right to cancel the ticket or ticket order and issue a refund for the amount paid. This applies in cases of human error or technical malfunctions of the website or any other system operated by The Freight.

All ticket sales are final. Artists, programs, dates, times, and prices are subject to change without notice.
